Bedroom Storage Ideas

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Here’s a few more quick-fire tips for better bedroom storage and organisation:

1. Helen in our Chester store always suggests that customers should organise their clothes storage by “like-for-like” items (coats, shirts, skirts etc.) and according to colour. Her theory is that if you hang shorter items at one end of your wardrobe, graduating to longer pieces at the other end, you’ll create space underneath the shorter clothes for shoe or bag storage etc. or maybe even a small cupboard or one of our elfa basket drawer tower in which to store folded items like t-shirts and bedding.

2. A bed is the functional heart of a bedroom but it also harbours the most overlooked source of hidden storage – the space underneath it. A tucked away under bed storage box keeps a lot of clutter neatly out of site but also close to hand.

3. You can boost storage inside the wardorbe with hanging  organisers that fit into what would otherwise be empty gaps. Hanging organisers with pockets for sweaters can convert unused vertical wardrobe storage space into places for jumpers, scarves and handbags and better still they’re cheap!

4. At the end of the bed, an open fronted unit is useful for storing books and bits – and the TV can sit on top. Chests and trunks are decorative and have plenty of room inside for storing away bulky blankets and out of season clothes.

The Sunday Times says “Best Underbed Storage Boxes”

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Thank you Sunday Times Homes supplement for suggesting that STORE was the place to shop when it comes to clever under bed storage boxes.

We’ve a great range of underbed storage boxes in in plastic, cardboard, natural weave and wicker etc. and if you’re pushed for storage space, investing in some simple underbed boxes is a great simple idea to clear the clutter.

Invest in Better Wardrobe Storage

a wardrobe makeover with elfa storage

Our store’s always busy with customers trying to organise their wardrobe storage and like those good folk at The Container Store in USA and Howards Storage World in Australia we’re quick to recommend elfa shelving as the solution to better wardrobe storage. Having visited the elfa factory in Sweden on several occasions and seen the incredible attention to detail and quality control first hand we now understand why elfa is regarded as the highest quality wardrobe interior system available.

Most fitted wardrobes come with nothing more than clothes rail and a simple shelf above (very useful, thanks Mr House Builder!) but for less than £400 our elfa fitted wardrobe designers at STORE can design a tailored wardrobe interior for your fitted wardrobe with wardrobe shelving, shoe racks, trouser and tie organisers, gliding basket drawers, jewellery storage trays etc etc.

As well as working up space saving elfa designs for customers with new wardrobes requiring better storage space, we also work a lot with customers who have old fitted wardrobes, an alcove or even just a blank room they want to use for better storage. Elfa is such an easy system to retro-install inside an existing wardrobe and even better in a space room as a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room shelving solution.

One of the nicest and most efficient wardrobe interior installations (in terms of use of storage space) I’ve seen recently wasn’t even a fitted wardrobe rather, one of our elfa customers in Edinburgh turned her spare box room into a walk-in wardrobe (very Carrie Bradshaw!) and she did it entirely with our elfa solid wood decor system for under £1,000.

Solving London’s Storage Issues

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

I was reading the London Evening Standard on the underground last week and genuinely stumbled across a really nice little piece mentioning our shop.

“STORE has some eye catching products worth taking a closer look at…a very useful company.” Thanks Evening Standard!
