My colleagues insisted I write something in our storage solutions blog about the article on STORE in last October’s Elle Decoration. We’re delighted that Elle Decoration (the world’s best-selling homes magazine) dedicated an entire page entitled “Box Clever” in their Insider Guide to us. The article on page 68 was the result of an interview conducted over the telephone whilst my new baby boy (Will) cried incessantly in the background. If you want to take a look and can’t find a copy at your local store you can subscribe at www.elledeco.co.uk. The article even provoked a phone call from my sister at the other end of the country quoting that Elle Deco had branded me a “Storage Guru” !
Perhaps the funniest interview on decluttering and storage solutions I’ve done recently was with Melinda Messenger a few weeks ago for Channel 5’s show Cowboy Builders which goes live in a few weeks. Filmed on location in a viewers house, Melinda had to call me back 4 times because of background noise from passing cars outside their location shoot. All she wanted was a few minutes of handy hints on decluttering, storage and organisation in small British houses but we just couldn’t seem to get there in one phone call. My partner Nicola was frustrated too that day when she couldn’t get through to me on the mobile because I was in the words of my colleague, “busy talking to Melinda Messenger” about storage solutions!
One of our favourite TV shows here at STORE is George Clarke’s The Home Show on Channel 4 and imagine our surprise when we popped-up on screen in September with our stacking clear shoe storage boxes and garment rails. George liked the idea of using both of these storage ideas to sort a cluttered wardrobe.
For a while last year I also made the trip up to BBC Scotland in Glasgow where the BBC1 weekdays programme “Homes Live” is broadcast. Live TV (especially on BBC1 !) is not really my thing but Rouge Traders presenter Matt Allwright and his co host Beverley Turner (wife of Olympic hero James Cracknel) make it look very easy. After just 30 seconds run-through with me prior to broadcast they were already well up to speed. Unfortunately for me, at the time the show was on location in a smart new apartment block overlooking the river. I say unfortunately because broadcasting ideas on space saving storage live on BBC1 also involved me carrying car loads of storage boxes and other racks and storage solutions up 5 flights of stairs. Total respect to the two presenters who upon arriving early one day were more than happy to give me a hand. Actually Matt Allwright got a free bike store and ladder lift out of that one which I also went on to nervously screw to the ceiling of the studio and demonstrate live on BBC1 an hour later….yikes!
I can’t finish this post without mentioning the lovely ladies at London Greek Radio who again interviewed me about clever storage solutions for the home recently. We managed to talk about underbed storage boxes, shoe storage racks and then onto home storage
solutions for about 3 minutes before the (live on air) conversation descended into why (at the time) did a nice boy like me not have a wife and there must be some lovely Greek ladies out there listening who’d like to have someone as organised and good at decluttering as me. So much for a piece on enlightening the good folk of London on clearing the clutter!

Hello I read a bit of your site which I found absolutely by mistake while doing some online research for one of my projects.
Please write lots more as it is rare that somebody has something appealing to say about storage! I will be watching for more!
Great idea for a blog post!
